Description
We are looking for skilled and experienced Hardwood Flooring Installers to join our company. As a 1099 independent contractor, you will be responsible for installing, sanding, and staining hardwood flooring in residential homes. This role offers flexibility in managing your own schedule and the opportunity to work on a variety of projects. Ideal candidates will have expertise in hardwood flooring installation, finishing, and refinishing, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install hardwood flooring in residential homes, including solid wood, engineered wood, and other wood flooring types.
- Measure, cut, and lay flooring materials with precision to ensure a perfect fit.
- Prepare subfloors by leveling, cleaning, and ensuring the surface is ready for installation.
- Remove and dispose of existing flooring if necessary.
- Perform sanding and refinishing of hardwood floors to smooth the surface and prepare it for staining or sealing.
- Apply stain and finish coats to achieve the desired look and protect the wood from wear and damage.
- Install baseboards, moldings, and transitions as part of the flooring project.
- Use appropriate adhesives, nails, or other fasteners to secure the flooring.
- Ensure proper spacing and expansion gaps for the wood to expand naturally.
- Operate tools such as saws, sanders, nail guns, and other finishing equipment to complete the installation and refinishing process.
- Provide post-installation cleanup and remove debris from job sites.
- Communicate with homeowners to address any concerns, expectations, or custom requests regarding installation, sanding, or staining.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and ensure compliance with local building codes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in installing, sanding, and staining hardwood flooring in residential settings.
- Expertise in different types of hardwood flooring, installation techniques, sanding, and finishing methods.
- Ability to read and follow installation instructions, blueprints, and design layouts.
- Experience in applying various stains and finishes to achieve the desired look and protect the flooring.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to make precise measurements, cuts, and surface preparations.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Must have your own transportation and tools for hardwood flooring installation and refinishing.
- Valid driver’s license and liability insurance (required).
- Physically capable of lifting heavy materials and working in various positions, including kneeling, sanding, and standing for extended periods.
- Knowledge of local building codes and best practices for hardwood flooring installation and refinishing.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects efficiently.
Work Schedule:
- Flexible schedule based on job availability and the contractor’s preferred workload.
- Ability to accept or decline projects as they fit your schedule.
Compensation:
- Pay is project-based, with competitive rates determined by the scope of work.
- Payment will be made direct deposit weekly upon completion of each project (specific terms to be discussed).
- Potential for ongoing work based on performance and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Must operate as an independent contractor (1099 status).
- Responsible for paying your own taxes, insurance, and managing your own business operations.
- Must adhere to all local building codes and regulations for carpet installation.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain necessary contractor licenses if required by local or state regulations.
- Must have or be willing to get the EPA required Lead Based Paint Renovator Certification for work done in homes built before 1979
- Must have business General Liability and Worker's Comp Insurance
- Must have a reliable vehicle and/or trailer to pick up and deliver product safely to jobsites.
